Alessandro Cama, is a full Professor of General Pathology at the Department of Pharmacy, University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara, where he coordinates the Section of Biomedical and Statistical Sciences. He trained as a Medical Doctor and Endocrinologist at the University “La Sapienza” of Rome. He started his scientific career at the Diabetes Branch of the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda U.S.A. in the field of protein chemistry, molecular biology and genetics of signal transduction in metabolic diseases. At the “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti-Pescara he led studies on the genetics of cancer predisposition and progression. More recently his group is analyzing the effect of novel and approved drugs candidate for repurposing in cancer treatment, including the potential role of anesthetics in cancer.
